Compared to other gods and goddesses, Osiris seems to have had a hard life. Tricked and murdered by his brother Set multiple times, Osiris proves that you can't keep a good (wo)man down for long. With the help of his wife Isis, Thoth, and Anubis (God of the Dead), Osiris was mummified and resurrected for the final time with a promotion to God of the Underworld. It was his job to weigh the lives, actions, and characters of humans on his abacus before sending them on onward... a task which has now passed on to his son Anubis.
The myth of Osiris's resurrection is much like that of Jesus Christ with Easter, having risen on the 5th day instead and on to guard and rule the Underworld. Osiris was the god of the underworld, the dead, and the afterlife in ancient Egyptian religion. He was classically depicted as a green-skinned man with a pharaoh's beard and wearing a distinctive atef crown. Osiris was murdered by his brother Set, but was later resurrected by his wife Isis with the help of Anubis. Osiris then became the lord of the dead.
