Yemaya is the Yoruba Orisha or goddess of the sea. As mother of all, she rules over motherhood, fertility, and protection. Yemaya's domain is the saltwater of oceans and seas, and she is often depicted as a mermaid. Her symbols include shells, coral, and fish. She is not as temperamental as Oya, but instead is calm and comforting to all her children.
